Uschi Schulte-Sasse

Founder of USS AviationConsulting

Aviation isn't just my profession. It's in my DNA. Pilots and a flight attendant among my family, I grew up on airports, and kerosene has essentially flowed through my veins since childhood. That personal connection brings a depth of passion to my work that no amount of professional experience alone could replicate.

In 1989, I joined INFORM and spent the next three and a half decades building their Aviation Division from a single airport project into a leading global provider of resource management optimization solutions for ground handling. Along the way I worked with airlines, airports, and ground handling organizations across every major region, on both the product and the client side of the relationship. That journey produced something genuinely rare: deep operational knowledge of how ground handling actually works, combined with an equally deep understanding of how the software that runs it is built, brought to market, and deployed in practice.

Throughout the journey, one pattern kept appearing. The gap between what a digital system or transformation initiative promises and what it actually delivers in practice is one of the most persistent and costly challenges in the industry. Understanding why that gap opens, and how to close it, is what USS AviationConsulting was built to do.

The combination of industry depth, strategic perspective, and hands-on delivery experience is what I am known for in the industry, and it is precisely what boards and leadership teams need when navigating digital investment decisions, vendor selection, or transformation strategy. The questions I find most compelling are the ones being asked at governance level: how do you invest wisely in a fast-moving technology landscape, and how do you lead transformation without losing operational continuity. Those are the conversations I am most drawn to, and the ones USS AviationConsulting was built around.

What Makes This Engagement Different

Pattern recognition built over time, not borrowed from a framework

Having worked across a wide range of operations and implementations, I can tell quickly which challenges are genuinely specific to your organization and which are industry-wide patterns with known resolution paths. That distinction alone changes where effort is best spent.

A perspective from both sides of the table

I have built the software that had to perform in real operational environments, and I have worked alongside the operators who depend on it under pressure. The most useful insight consistently lives at that intersection, and it is not something that can be replicated from one side alone.

Independent analysis, with no competing interests

I carry extensive knowledge of the ground handling software landscape, including vendors, products, and their real-world fit in different operational contexts. I have no vendor ties or implementation revenue at stake, which means every recommendation is genuinely aligned with your outcomes.

Direct senior engagement throughout

No rotating junior teams, no account management layers. One expert, directly involved, in every conversation and every phase of work.

Rooted in Germany but shaped by an international upbringing and career, I have always been at home across cultures and comfortable in operationally complex, multi-stakeholder environments. That naturally carries into how I work: curious about different perspectives and genuinely invested in the people I work with.

I hold a Dipl.-Kff. (M.Sc. equiv.) in Business and Economics from FernUniversität Hagen, and a MatSE degree in Mathematical Technical Software Development from RWTH Aachen University. A combination that gives me both the business and technical grounding to work meaningfully at the intersection of ground operations and digital systems.
